Call for video works

Following a residency at pocagallery last summer organised by East Street Arts, Tom McGinn will be creating a new exhibition in our Project Space at Patrick Studios in June. He is looking for contributions in video to create a new installation.

This is a call for existing or new video works to feature in an experimental new installation. We are looking for short video clips (up to 2 or 3 minutes, either full or partial videos) that respond to or explore ideas surrounding;

Networked living – Social media, web browsing, online communication and connectivity, over-sharing, icons, pop-ups, apps, glitches, gaming, virtual reality, gifs and animation.

Embodied living – The sense of touch, tangibility, gestures and materials, the perception and manipulation of objects, and the interaction between surfaces, objects and bodies.

Selected submissions will form part of a large spatial video installation, layering multiple body parts, moments, objects and perspectives into an energetic and immersive environment.

Entries will be included in the final presentation based on relevance to the above themes. There is no limit to the number of submissions you can make.

Guidelines:
2 – 3 min max in duration
Less than 200MB if possible, ideally H264 format
Standard and High definition videos accepted.
Please do not send works that include: text, credits or audio

How to submit your work
Please send your works using Dropbox or Wetransfer to commonbodies@gmail.com by the 1st of June. Please include your name, title of the work, description and website (if applicable).

More about the project
Common Bodies will be a exhibition curated by Leeds-based artist Tom McGinn, with support from East St Arts. The project is a continuation of the residency at pocagallery in Portugalete, Bilbao, during the summer 2014. This new work will explore the different ways in which we collectively engage with the virtual and the physical, and the devices that mediate these interactions.
